This event is for all Monarch K4 - 5th grade girls and their fathers (or a positive male figure in their lives- uncle, grandfather, or friend).
Jumping Jukebox is the DJ for the dance.  Escobar Photography is doing the photos and options start at $10 to be purchased the night of the dance (you can even purchase the digital copy of the photo taken for $15). 
We have 26 prizes for $1 a chance to win!

It is time to start thinking about your role in the PTA at Monarch next year. We would love to know what role you would like to play next year serving our school. Attention Monarch Families…Continue to Save your Box Tops!!  

Grade Level Competition!!!

We are kicking off another Box Top contest. With our school's focus on Health Sciences, we are going to celebrate science.  The class in each grade with the most Box Tops submitted will win the opportunity to attend an in-school field trip to see The Best of Roper Mountain - Science on Wheels.

The contest will end on Friday, February 15th. Please make sure your Box Tops are cut on the dotted line and are not expired.  Don’t forget to include your child’s name and teacher’s name on the bag. Remember to ask friends and relatives to save their Box Tops.


****MOUNT MONARCH*****

Due to limited daylight in the afternoons, we are going to change the times to paint Mount Monarch to 3pm.  You will be able to begin painting at 3pm and your design will be on the rock until 3pm the following day.

Please remember to send in your $10 payment one week before your painting date.

Carraba's Night at Monarch

This event is being held by the 5th grade in order to help raise money for their trip to Washington, DC. The night will be held on Monday, March 4th before and during the March PTA Meeting.  All orders need to be placed by February 14th. Meals are $10. Look for order forms from your teachers.


ARE YOU REEDY?  Monarch Marathoners are getting REEDY!!  

The Greenville Reedy River Run is coming up March 1-2 and Monarch has a chance to earn PRIZE money for registrations! There are races for kids ages 3-14 on Friday, March 1 and a 5K or 10K race for any age on Saturday, March 2nd.  $1250 will be given to the school with the MOST registrations (Kids Fun Run not included) OR the highestpercentage of registrations based on the school enrollment.  Registration Form

What a great opportunity for families to get healthy and run a race together!  Downtown Greenville is a spectacular venue for this race.  Plenty of time for a "couch to 5K" program! So Register with the form from your child's class today and be sure to share the form with friends, family, and neighbors!  

ANYONE can register for this race through Monarch Elementary and save LOTS of money. All race registrations are only $12 (versus $25+ for 5K & 10K)!!  Help Monarch earn $1250 too!  Time to get REEDY!

SCIENCE FAIR INFORMATION
Science Fair projects are optional for 3rd graders and mandatory for 4th and 5th graders. All projects need to follow the Scientific Method as outlined in the informational packet and PowerPoint. Projects are due on or before March 1st for participating 3rd graders and 5th graders. Fourth graders need to turn in projects on or before February 25th due to the Rock Eagle trip.

School Improvement Council, or SIC as it is commonly called, was initiated by South Carolina legislation over 20 years ago. as a means of  assuring the influential voice of parents and community members in the education of their children.  Some SIC members are appointed, some are elected and some are members as a result of their job.  Please see the Monarch calendar for the meeting schedule.   Everyone is welcome to attend.  If you have questions please contact one of the members of the council or attend one of our meeting.  Be sure to check out the Monarch website for updated information about SIC.

Parents, Teachers and Staff can now access Sportsclub’s state of the art equipment and world class group fitness program at an affordable rate while their visits to the club raise funds that go directly back to the school. K5 and First Grade Registration for the 2013-2014 School Year
January 22 - 25, 2013
Children who will be five years old on or before September 1 of the current year must enroll in public or private kindergarten unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver using the Kindergarten Non-Attendance Form. Any child who will be six years old on or before September 1 of the current year must enroll in first grade To find out where your child will attend kindergarten or first grade, call the INFOLine at 355-3100 or click HERE.
To enroll a new student in kindergarten or first grade, a parent must present the following at registration:
§  State-issued Birth Certificate
§  Properly Completed Immunization Certificate or Religious Exemption Certificate (Religious Exemption Certificate provided by Health Department)
§  Two Forms of Proof of Residence (two documents required such as a current electric bill or current mortgage/lease statement (additional accepted proof of residence provided in the Parent Enrollment Checklist).
