Monarch Express Carpool Lane Application
The Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and Greenville County Schools have approved for Monarch Elementary to pilot MORNING Monarch Express Carpool Lane in the front of the school. This express carpool line is ONLY for cars with 3 or more children who attend Monarch. This lane will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am - 8:00 am ONLY. This timeframe will be strictly enforced as this is primarily our bus loop. This pilot will last through the end of the school year.
Applications will be taken on a first-come first-serve basis beginning Friday, October 11, 2013 starting at 8:00 am. Applications will not be taken prior to this time. Only 100 carpool applications will be accepted. EACH CARPOOL COMPLETE ONE APPLICATION. For example, if 2 or 3 families are carpooling together, please complete only one application for the carpool. Special Monarch car tags will be issued to each family participating in the carpool. For example, if your family has 3 children, you receive one car tag. Multiple families in a car pool will each receive a tag.
The application can be accessed here. The MORNING Monarch Express Carpool Lane will open on Monday, October 21st at 7:30 am. The official Monarch tag must be displayed hanging from the rearview mirror anytime a driver uses the carpool lane. Cars without the application on files, or those that do have have the carpool tag, will be asked to go to the regular carpool lane.

A

BIG THANK YOU

from the Art Department!

The art department would like to thank every family and business for collecting aluminum cans for our Roper Mountain Festival of Lights Holiday Card!  At this time, we have received more than enough of every color aluminum cans can come in.   We do not need any more cans, so you can start recycling them now on your own.

The plywood for our holiday card will be delivered on Monday and we plan to start creating our masterpiece that day!  As soon as the card is finished, we will put it on display at the school until it is taken to Roper Mountain Science Center.  If you get a chance this year, visit the Roper Mountain Festival of Lights so you can see it there.

Thanks,

Mrs. Kish and Mrs. Rasor

Attention all Monarch Parents who enjoy RUNNING!
(or would like to TRY to enjoy running!)
If you're a runner - you KNOW all the wonderful benefits (physical, mental, emotional and more) of running!  Maybe you're not a runner but would like to experience all the GREAT benefits of running!?  Monarch's 1st ever "Running Club" will be starting on October 11.  If you enjoy running and would be willing to run with kids once or twice a month or even every Friday so that KIDS can experience all the great benefits of running - then please contact traceyndaniel@gmail.com.  You will be sent a SignUpGenius event to pick your Fridays. Group runs for the kids will take place each Friday from 7:15am-7:45am. Volunteers will need to arrive by 7:05am.  Experience running is NOT required!  This would be a great activity to do WITH your child!  Please let us know if you're interested in participating in RUNNING CLUB!"

Monarch Marathoners "Running Club"

The Monarch Marathoners "Running Club" will start on Friday, October 11th at 7:15am. The club is available for all 3-5th grade students.  Parents are not required to run with their child, but it would be a great way to promote health & activity with your child! The Running Club will train for 2 local 5K races during the school year and will accumulate miles throughout the year during the group runs and running on their own.  Awards will be given at the end of the school year for 5K participants, marathoners (26 miles), double marathoners (52 miles), and the Ultra marathoner (highest mileage) in each grade for the year. Incentives and recognition will be ongoing throughout the year too!  Your child can learn the JOY of running at an early age!  Be on the lookout for a separate email next week with a sign-up/permission form. Please contact traceyndaniel@gmail.com if  you have any specific questions.  Hope to see your child (and you?) at Running Club on Friday, October 11th!

Got Box Tops????

It is time to turn in all those Box Tops you have been collecting over the summer.

We are kicking off the school year with a Box Top contest.  The top two students

in the school who bring in the most Box Tops will each receive a $25 gift card

to the place of their choice.  The contest will end on Friday, October 25.  Please

make sure your Box Tops are cut on the dotted line and are not expired.  Using

a snack size Ziploc bag, place no more than 50 Box Tops in each bag.  Don't forget to put your name on the bag.

Good luck and happy clipping!
