Box Tops

Attention Monarch Families…Save your Box Tops!!

We are kicking off the new school year with a Box Top contest. The top two students in the school who bring in the most Box Tops will each receive a $25 gift card to the place of their choice. The contest will end on Friday, October 12. Please make sure your Box Tops are cut on the dotted line and are not expired. Using a snack size Ziploc bag, place ten Box Tops in each bag. If you have multiple bags, place all the snack size bags in a larger Ziploc bag. Don’t forget to include your child’s name and teacher’s name on the bag. Remember to ask friends and relatives to save their Box Tops.

Bookfair and Grandparents Week - September 30th - October 5th

Information From the Administration

Morning Drop-off

Parents, we want for the morning lanes to move as quickly and safely as possible. One way to help move things along is when you enter the car line to use the two available lanes.  These two lanes will merge into one lane right before you get to the drop off areas. Please alternate cars as you merge. Once you get to the drop-off area, the lines will move quicker if all children are ready to get out of the car when the patrols open your car door. For the safety of all children, no children can get out on the driver’s side of the car. If your child is in a car seat, please go through the line and then go into the parking lot and walk your child to the crosswalk. An adult will walk your child across the crosswalk and into the building.
Thank you!

Afternoon Pick-up

Afternoon pickup is going very well. Please make sure that you always have your
barcode tag. It slows things down when we need to manually enter phone numbers. At this time we are finished scanning in the barcodes by 2:50 pm daily. Please plan to arrive before 2:50 daily. Beginning Monday, September 10, we will not scan any cars after 2:50 unless the car line is backed up. All cars need to go through the carline. If we are no longer scanning barcodes, you will need to pull around to the front of the building, park and come into the office with a photo ID to pick up your child. Children that are not picked up by 3:00 will be sent to the Extended Day Program and be asked to pay the daily rate of $15.

Changes in How a Student Goes Home

All parents have given their child’s teacher information regarding the way their child
will go home. Any change in the way a child goes home must be on a note that is signed by the parent and turned in to the teacher by the child first thing in the morning. If you have an emergency that arises during the school day and warrants a change in how your child goes home, a signed faxed note must be sent to the office no later than 1:00 pm. The Monarch fax number is 864-452-0690. For the safety of all children, NO EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS TO THE TEACHER OR THE OFFICE WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Birthdays

Birthdays are a special milestone in a child’s life. We want to recognize and celebrate children’s birthdays. At Monarch, our birthday celebrations may be a little different than how you celebrate in other schools. Aligned with our school focus, we want birthday celebrations to reinforce healthy eating choices. If you would like to send in a birthday treat, fruit kabobs, cut fruit, whole grain goldfish, real fruit snacks, low-fat popcorn, and graham crackers are examples of wholesome treats that could be sent in. Thank you in advance for promoting our healthy lifestyle and not sending in items such as cupcakes, brownies, candy, chips of any kind, sugary drinks, etc. If you come with unhealthy treats such as cupcakes, we will ask you
to take them home. Once a month, our cafeteria will serve a special “birthday” treat to all children.

Mark your calendars for these special events:

January 11th - Monarch Mother/Son (or the whole family) night at the Road Warriors Hockey Game
February 8th - Father/Daughter Dance, 6:30pm, Monarch Gymnasium
April 19th - Monarch Carnival at Monarch Elementary School, 5pm-8pm
